Marchnant Quarry, Elan Valley

Marchnant quarry was used during the construction of Claerwen Dam, 438.00 tons of gritstone rock was obtained from the quarry. After blasting and washing, the rock was loaded by two 1.5 cubic yards Ruston Bucyrus Diesel Shovels on to lorries which transported the material to the crushers located on the East bank, alongside the road leading to the top of Claerwen Dam
